From Your Director of Missions. . . September 08 Newsletter

We just concluded our August executive meeting and we had a great meeting. The reports given by our program leaders were exciting and informational. The attendance was good and a spirit of optimism prevailed. Lafayette Baptist Association is truly blessed to have program leaders who are committed to their task of ministry.

As many of you know we had to cancel our S.S. Training Clinic scheduled for August 21st because of Tropical Storm Fay. We are hoping to reschedule if for Oct. 2nd if this date works out with our team. We will get you word when we finalize our plans.

Our week of Prayer for State Missions is a few weeks away. The theme this year is “My Florida, My Mission.” Florida has become a real mission field and the opportunities of evangelism are endless. We are growing at a rate of 1100 each day and many of these people, along with those already here, are unchurched and need to hear the gospel. Through this special offering, we are providing ministries to reach these people.

Our annual meeting, October 13-14, will be hosted by First Baptist Cross City and Airline Baptist. We have a great program planned. It’s not too early to elect your messengers to this meeting.

We have the associational calendar completed for 2008-2009. I hope our churches will use the calendar as they plan their church activities for the coming year.

We are here to assist you in any way we can. It is a joy to serve as your director of mission.
